Four escalation tiers for chasing late UK invoices
Enter the invoice details and days overdue. The generator picks the right escalation tier and drafts an email you can copy. All four tiers:
- Polite reminder (1-7 days overdue) — "in case it slipped through"
- Firm reminder (8-30 days) — ask for confirmation of payment date or escalation blocker
- Final notice (31-60 days) — flag the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act and the statutory charges you can add
- Letter before action (60+ days) — formal pre-litigation notice, listing principal + interest + compensation, before Money Claim Online

Your statutory rights on late B2B payment (UK)
Under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998, if your customer is a business and payment is late, you can charge:
- Interest at Bank of England base rate + 8% per annum, from the day after payment was due.
- Fixed compensation: £40 for debts under £1,000, £70 for £1,000-£9,999.99, £100 for debts of £10,000+.
- Reasonable debt recovery costs above the fixed compensation if you can show you had to spend more.
You don't need these in your contract — they're statutory. See also our full guide to chasing unpaid invoices and the late payment interest calculator.
