Tips for UK freelancers
- Sequential numbering. HMRC requires invoice numbers to be unique and sequential. Try formats like
2026-001,2026-002. - VAT registered? Use the VAT Invoice template for a fully HMRC-compliant document with VAT breakdown.
- Not VAT registered. Pick "No VAT" as the default rate — VAT columns are hidden in the preview.
- Late-payment terms. Under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act, statutory interest is 8% above the Bank of England base rate.
