What a quote should contain
- Clear identification — quote number, date, valid-until date.
- Both parties — your business + address, client business + address.
- Itemised scope — one line per deliverable or phase, with quantity and unit price.
- Totals — subtotal, VAT (if registered), grand total.
- Terms — deposit %, payment schedule, payment terms (14 or 30 days), what's included vs out of scope.
- Validity — a quote is a commercial offer; set a sensible expiry (30 days is standard) so your pricing doesn't bind you forever.
A quote isn't a contract until signed — but once a client formally accepts (email, signed document, start of work), the terms become binding under general contract law.
