Build a proper Statement of Work in your browser
A SoW is where quote meets contract. It's the single document that says what you're doing, what the client is getting, when, for how much, and what happens if scope changes. Done well, it prevents 80% of the fights you'd otherwise have at delivery. Done badly or skipped, it's the single biggest source of unpaid work in UK freelancing.
This generator produces a seven-section SoW with signature blocks: Objectives, Deliverables, Timeline, Assumptions, Out of Scope, Fees & Payment, Change Control. Fill the fields, click Generate, print or download. No account.
Statement of Work generator
Why each section matters
- Objectives — the "why". Protects you when a stakeholder shows up mid-project with a different idea of what success looks like.
- Deliverables — the "what". Numbered, specific, finishable. "A website" is not a deliverable; "12 pages designed in Figma and built in Astro" is.
- Timeline — the "when". Milestones more than exact dates.
- Assumptions — the hidden contract. "Client provides copy in week 1" is where most delays originate.
- Out of scope — the single most under-used section. Explicit exclusions are more valuable than implicit scope.
- Fees & payment — tie payment milestones to deliverables, not calendar dates.
- Change control + late payment — the two clauses that save you from "could you just...".
Pair with the Quote Generator
